1944 FORD GPW WWII
This Jeep has history and the photo’s speak for themselves.
At the end of hostilities this Jeep was shipped to Australia via the Pacific where this Jeep was converted to begin a new life as a light rail car to tow Sugar Cane to the Queensland sugar mills. This was done by fitting light train bogies in place and welding an eye on to the steering arm so that the steering can be fixed to not move. Each Jeep (train) engine was the given an engineering certificate and brass data plaque fixed above the glove box. This data plate and welded eye are still fitted to this Jeep.
At the end of its short period as a train engine this Jeep was brought by the Pastor of a small (now large) town of Toowoomba in South East Queensland, he used the Jeep to visit to visit the small churches and members of his parish in the rural regions. As with any movement in time the Jeep was replaced by a more modern car and was placed on blocks with several other Jeeps and only used on special occasions up to the time of the Pastors retirement.
On the passing of the Pastor I acquired all three of his Jeeps with this one being the Jewel in the crown.
The two spare Jeeps were stripped down and relieved of all the ford nuts, bolts and any other Ford items available. This Jeep was then repainted and rust protected and reassembled with all Ford parts. This Jeep has full canvas including sides and doors. The only new component fitted was a new electrical loom, the Jeep is in original six volt configuration.
To gain Queensland historic registration small indicator lights had to be fitted and once registered the Jeep has been used as a weekender and for the ANZAC day parade each year.
Regrettably this Jeep is now for sale. Any extra photos or details will be provided on request via email.
