My late husband purchased this jeep from Mecum auction in 2013. I've used it on the ranch in Montana since then. It runs great and has always been garaged inside. I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it, so it's time for it to find a new home.
It has a great background story:
This particular Jeep was left on Catalina Island after the filming of the war epic 'Iwo Jima' staring John Wayne in 1949. It was donated to the Catholic Church on the island and used until mechanical trouble rendered it inoperable and left in the parking lot where it was discovered by auto dealer Joe Boccalero while on vacation with his family during the early 1950's. Joe was a WWII Army veteran and POW, he made an offer the padre of the church could not refuse and became the new owner. It took a tow truck and a ship to get it back to LA where it was gone through both mechanically and cosmetically. The Jeep was used by Joe as a hunting vehicle then retired to the dealership showroom of Domenich Basso Inc Chrysler Jeep in the mid 1990's, was used by local law enforcement and even the US Army for parades and display purposes
This Jeep carries the logo of Joe's WWII US Army division 12th Armored Division, 17th Armored Infantry Battalion and Company A attached to General George Patton's battle group.
